ATLANTA— Delta Air Lines (DL) has opened applications for its 2027 flight attendant hiring classes, with roles available for both English-speaking and bilingual Language of Destination (LOD) candidates. Training will begin in early 2027 at the airline’s World Headquarters in Atlanta (ATL).
The carrier is recruiting people who value service, teamwork, and connection to support its network of more than 300 destinations across six continents. Successful candidates will complete seven weeks of paid training before joining Delta’s In-Flight Service team.

Delta Attendant Hiring 2027
Delta is hiring both English-speaking flight attendants and bilingual flight attendants for its In-Flight Services team. The top priority for every flight attendant is the safety and comfort of customers while delivering memorable travel experiences.
Rachel McCarthy, Vice President of IFS ATL Operations, Customer Experience, Hiring, and Learning, said the airline is looking for individuals inspired by service, teamwork, and connection. She added that Delta welcomes candidates driven to create exceptional journeys for customers.
LOD roles require fluency in English and one additional language selected on the application. Eligible LOD languages include Czech, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Korean, and Swedish. LOD candidates must pass a language assessment and commit to the program for two years.
Eligibility Requirements
To apply, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Be at least 21 years old at the time of application
- Hold a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Speak, read, and write English fluently
- Hold a valid passport with at least 30 months of validity remaining before the first day of training
- Pass a pre-employment Department of Transportation (DOT) drug test and a comprehensive background check
- Be willing to fly domestic and international routes, including overnights, weekends, holidays, and irregular hours
Candidates must also meet physical requirements. These include reaching a height of 76 inches and a width of 35 inches to close a Boeing 767 door, opening emergency exits and doors weighing up to 60 pounds, and operating food and beverage carts that require 32 pounds of force.
Flight attendants must also store and retrieve items from overhead bins as high as 76 inches from the floor.

The Delta Hiring Process
The hiring journey follows six clear stages.
The process begins with the online flight attendant application. As of June 2026, candidates may submit one application every six months and must use the same profile each time.
Applicants then complete the Fitme assessment, a short values-based questionnaire that helps Delta understand what fulfills each candidate at work.
Candidates who pass the Fitme assessment are invited to record a HireVue On-Demand Interview through Delta’s technology partner. Successful candidates then attend an in-person Event Day at Delta’s Atlanta headquarters, where the airline learns about their experiences.
A strong Event Day leads to a Conditional Job Offer. Once pre-employment steps are complete, new hires receive a training date and base assignment before starting their seven-week onsite training in Atlanta.
Key Responsibilities
Flight attendants support a 24/7 global operation and must work non-traditional hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Their core duties focus on safety, service, and adaptability.
Day-to-day responsibilities include practicing safety-conscious behavior, operating emergency equipment, and administering basic first aid or CPR when needed.
Flight attendants prepare, serve, and sell beverages and meals, assist customers with luggage, make public address and safety announcements, and respond to in-flight emergencies, including ditching situations. They must remain calm during delays, turbulence, and last-minute schedule changes while making decisions aligned with Delta’s policies and values.

Training and Base Assignment
New hires complete seven consecutive weeks of training at Delta’s In-Flight Training Center in Atlanta.
During training, participants receive a training wage, some meals, and shared lodging for those who live more than 25 miles from the facility.
After graduation, flight attendants report to their assigned base and join more than 28,000 colleagues in In-Flight Service. Base options depend on operational needs and differ for LOD flight attendants, who must remain at their assigned base for at least two years.
Benefits and Perks
Delta offers a competitive pay and benefits package built around its focus on sharing success with employees.
The package includes a competitive salary, an industry-leading profit-sharing program, and a 401(k) with company contributions of up to 9%.
Employees also receive comprehensive health benefits, paid time off, parental leave, and family care assistance, such as fertility, surrogacy, and adoption support.
Additional perks include domestic and international space-available flight privileges, wellbeing programs, career development resources, and access to over 500 discounts through Deltaperks.

Application Policy and Reapplication
Delta enforces a strict application policy. Candidates who apply in June 2026 or later may submit only one application every six months, and reapplication requires a new job requisition number.
Attempts to bypass this policy, such as creating multiple profiles, may result in automatic dismissal of future applications and could lead to indefinite restrictions. Unsuccessful candidates may reapply six months after disqualification once a new requisition is posted.
Delta is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer and provides reasonable accommodation during the application and selection process.
