SINGAPORE- One of the World’s best carriers, Singapore Airlines (SQ), has quietly begun the soft opening of its renovated Terminal 2 SilverKris Business Class lounge at Singapore Changi Airport (SIN).
Eligible Business Class passengers now access an upgraded temporary space that delivers modern design, natural light, and improved amenities.
This forms the next stage of a S$45 million lounge renewal project. The full facility with substantial seating expansion will be completed sometime in 2027.

Singapore Airlines New SilverKris T2 Lounge
Passengers flying Singapore Airlines (SQ) from Changi Airport (SIN) Terminal 2 now turn right instead of the familiar left at the escalator corridor to reach the SilverKris Business Class lounge.
The new temporary lounge occupies the former First Class space, creating an unexpected and welcome change from the previous tired and dark facility.
According to Mainly Miles, the soft opening arrived without prior announcement. The move follows the launch of the all-new First Class SilverKris lounge on the opposite side of the terminal’s central atrium in November last year.
That development freed the old First Class area for immediate use as a Business Class lounge while builders prepare the larger former Business Class footprint.
The final layout will merge the current open section with the renovated ex-Business Class area to form an extended SilverKris Business Class lounge.
An enlarged KrisFlyer Gold lounge will operate with its own separate entrance.
The current KrisFlyer Gold lounge continues unchanged from its dedicated entrance at the top of the escalator.

T3-Style Design with Natural Light
The design language copies the successful Terminal 3 SilverKris Business Class lounge. Warm wood panelling, signature tan and slate-blue armchairs, a high communal counter with leather bar stools, and ribbed ceiling treatments create a familiar premium atmosphere.
A long corridor stretches ahead after reception, lined on the right with dining-style tables and distinctive burnt-orange leather chairs known from the T3 lounge.
This generous seating currently serves as a useful overflow zone, though some reconfiguration may occur once the full lounge opens.
Natural light now enters through a row of small opaque windows along the far wall. This marks a major improvement over the old windowless, cave-like Business Class space that often made passengers prefer the T3 lounges.

Productivity Pods and Work Areas
Productivity Pods form a highlight of the updated lounge. Four pods sit in the currently open section.
The finished facility will serve roughly 320 passengers, so more pods are expected in the expanded space.
These pods deliver privacy, power outlets, and proper work surfaces for passengers who need to complete tasks before their flight.

Dining and Bar Offerings
The buffet area operates with a live cooking station that prepares fresh dishes to order. Self-serve drinks come from wine and beer fridges or champagne buckets along the back wall.
Crossroads craft beer flows on tap, an addition not available in the former T2 lounge.
A tended cocktail bar is absent for now. This feature will appear in the larger completed lounge where it will have enough space and theatre to function properly.
The missing tended bar remains the only meaningful gap compared to the Terminal 3 Business Class SilverKris lounge today.

Premium Bathrooms and Showers
Bathroom facilities match the latest Terminal 3 standard with grey marble finishes, rain shower heads, vanity units, and Toto toilet fixtures.
Ten unisex shower rooms are already available. This count exceeds earlier predictions of six to eight and should keep wait times manageable even during peak hours.
For comparison, the larger T3 Business Class lounge has 15 showers. The closed construction section will likely focus on extra seating, dining, and rest areas rather than additional showers.

Better Experience Than Before
For years, the Terminal 2 SilverKris Business Class lounge served as the poor cousin of its Terminal 3 counterpart — older, more cramped, and conspicuously dated. The temporary lounge changes this picture significantly.
It is not a downgrade in any meaningful sense from the T3 facility. It shares the same design DNA, seating standards, Productivity Pods, shower quality, and now adds natural light that the old space sorely lacked.
Capacity may feel tighter in the coming months because this section represents roughly half the eventual footprint. Proper rest areas will join the finished product along with the tended bar.
Passengers flying Singapore Airlines (SQ) Business Class from Terminal 2 at Changi Airport (SIN) can expect a much better lounge experience than even a week ago.
A more thorough review with full food sampling will follow once the complete facility opens in the coming months.
