BIRMINGHAM- easyJet (U2) has officially launched a new direct service linking Birmingham Airport (BHX) with Rome Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino Airport (FCO), expanding travel options for passengers across the Midlands.
The inaugural flight departed on 5 March 2026, offering travelers a convenient route to Italy’s capital ahead of the busy Easter holiday and summer travel season. The launch also reflects the airline’s continued investment in its Birmingham operations and growing demand for both leisure and business travel.

easyJet’s Birmingham-Rome Flights
The Birmingham–Rome route will operate four times per week, with scheduled departures on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
This frequency allows travelers to plan short city breaks, week-long holidays, or business trips with greater flexibility.
Rome remains one of Europe’s most visited cities due to its historic landmarks, tourism appeal, and strong business links.
The new service improves direct access for passengers across the Midlands region who previously had fewer nonstop options to the Italian capital.
The airline stated that the route launch aligns with rising demand for affordable short-haul travel across Europe. By introducing additional capacity, easyJet aims to strengthen its presence at Birmingham while supporting regional connectivity to major European destinations.
The new route strengthens connectivity between the United Kingdom and Italy while giving passengers more affordable options to visit one of Europe’s most popular cultural destinations.
Fares for the new service start from £22.99 when booked through easyJet’s website or mobile application.

Fleet Expansion Birmingham
To support growing demand, easyJet plans to introduce a sixth Airbus A320 family aircraft to its Birmingham base during the summer 2026 season.
The additional aircraft will enable the airline to expand its network and increase flight frequencies across several routes.
According to Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, the new Rome service demonstrates the airline’s commitment to offering convenient and competitively priced travel options for customers in the Midlands.
He added that the airline has seen strong interest in both flights and package holidays from Birmingham.
The additional aircraft will therefore help unlock further opportunities for growth while meeting increasing demand from leisure and corporate travelers.

easyJet Holidays Deals
Alongside the new route, easyJet holidays has introduced several city-break packages to Rome from Birmingham. These packages combine flights and hotel accommodation and include the operator’s “Ultimate Flexibility” policy.
The policy allows customers to change bookings, access a refund guarantee, and benefit from a best price guarantee. Such bundled packages have become increasingly popular among travelers seeking simplified holiday planning.
Current offers include a three-night stay at the Urban Garden Hotel starting from £195 per person on a room-only basis. Additional options include the Domus Sessoriana hotel with bed and breakfast from £250 and the Rome Garden hotel from £235 for three nights.
Kristin Garrett, General Counsel at Birmingham Airport, noted that the inaugural flight attracted strong demand, including passengers traveling to Rome for the Six Nations rugby fixtures.
Airport officials expect the four-times-weekly service to become a popular route for travelers across the region.
