MUMBAI- Air India Express (IX) delayed its Mumbai Muscat service by nearly 10 hours after a technical snag forced passengers to wait overnight at the airport.
Passengers scheduled to depart Mumbai faced repeated schedule changes and limited updates while waiting at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) for their flight to Muscat (MCT).

Air India Express Passengers Stranded at Mumbai
The Air India Express service operating between Mumbai and Muscat encountered a technical issue shortly before departure. The aircraft was originally scheduled to reach Muscat at 11:20 pm on Saturday, but ultimately landed around 9:20 am the following morning, Times of Oman reported.
Reports indicate that the aircraft developed a technical snag before takeoff, forcing operational checks and causing the delay to extend for several hours. Passengers were asked to disembark and complete security procedures again while the airline worked to resolve the issue.
The prolonged wait led to an overnight stay for many travelers inside the airport terminal, disrupting onward plans and increasing passenger frustration.
Timeline of the Delay
The flight initially faced a short delay announcement, but the departure time kept changing through the night. Each revision extended passenger wait time, eventually resulting in a delay of nearly 10 hours.
Operational delays caused by technical checks often require airlines to follow strict safety protocols before clearance. While such checks are essential for safety, the delay significantly impacted travelers due to the absence of consistent updates.

Passenger Concerns Over Communication
Several passengers expressed dissatisfaction with how the situation was handled. Reports suggest many travelers did not receive clear information regarding revised departure timings.
Frequent schedule changes without detailed explanations left passengers uncertain about departure plans. Travelers argued that timely and transparent communication could have reduced confusion and stress during the long wait.
Technical issues are not uncommon in airline operations, as aircraft must undergo strict safety checks before flying. However, passenger dissatisfaction typically arises when communication and support services do not match expectations during disruptions.
Industry experts note that clear announcements, timely updates, and assistance during extended delays play a key role in managing passenger experience. Transparent handling of such events helps maintain trust even during unavoidable disruptions.

Airline representatives informed passengers on April 26 that maintenance teams had temporarily resolved the problem. Boarding resumed around 1:30 PM Saudi time, offering hope of departure.
However, uncertainty returned when the aircraft halted during taxiing due to renewed technical concerns, further extending the delay and increasing passenger anxiety.
