NEW SOUTH WALES- Qantas Airways (QF) has unveiled a refreshed in-flight menu across its domestic network, emphasizing Australian-sourced ingredients and boosted partnerships with local food producers.
The initiative, launching in the carrier’s economy and business cabins, promotes nearly 70 new and updated items and is set to enhance the travel experience for passengers flying into and out of hubs like Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) and other major Australian cities.

Qantas New Domestic Menu
The new menu features a six-week rotation cycle, ensuring return flyers are less likely to encounter the same meals on consecutive trips. Items span both economy and business class cabins, and have been curated to showcase regional tastes and local producers.
The rollout forms part of Qantas’ broader strategy to support Australian food-production businesses, including First Nations-owned suppliers, while offering greater variety for frequent domestic travelers. It also reinforces the airline’s commitment to culinary excellence on board.
For instance, economy selections include an egg & chorizo toastie with smoky tomato chutney and a macadamia butterscotch cake, while business class dishes offer garlic prawns with parmesan cream and fettuccine or lamb & rosemary pie with crisp potatoes and peas.
Suppliers listed include Sydney-based artisan bakeries, Queensland toastie specialists, and Indigenous-owned ventures such as those run by Uncle Herb Smith and Terri-Anne Daniel.

Focus on Local Producers
Qantas names specific partners in its media release, including Sydney’s Simmone Logue, Manna from Heaven, and Queensland’s Handmade Food Co.
The airline also formalizes deeper collaborations with Indigenous businesses: DreamTime Tuka and Cooee, which incorporate native Australian bush ingredients into their offerings.
These steps aim to elevate local food-production visibility and integrate more Australian ingredient provenance into the travel-catering supply chain.
Catriona Larritt, Qantas Group Chief Customer and Digital Officer, said:
The new menu was thoughtfully curated to showcase the best of Australia. Each year, we proudly serve our customers more than 20 million menu items on board and we’re excited to introduce a refreshed offering…We know our customers value variety and quality when they fly with us, and this new menu has been thoughtfully curated to highlight the finest Australian flavours while championing local businesses across the country.”

Lounge Enhancements and Network Impact
Beyond onboard meals, Qantas is upgrading lounge food service across its domestic network, with new features such as:
- “The Bakery” in its Brisbane Domestic Business Lounge
- Nasi Goreng in the Melbourne Domestic Business Lounge
- A revamped pizza bar in the Perth Business Lounge.
These enhancements reflect an end-to-end dining strategy — from lounge pre-flight to in-flight service — and are expected to reinforce customer satisfaction and loyalty on the domestic network.

Bottom Line
Qantas’ newly introduced domestic menu represents a deliberate move to strengthen its connection with Australian-based producers, enrich its catering offering, and enhance the domestic traveler experience.
By leveraging local sourcing and varied rotations, the airline aims to differentiate its domestic service and deliver consistent value in both economy and business cabins.
