AMSTERDAM- KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL) is set to boost its flight frequencies to multiple U.S. destinations in June 2025, significantly enhancing connectivity between the Netherlands and key American cities.
The airline will substantially increase weekly flights to Salt Lake City, Austin, Minneapolis, and Boston, reported Ishrion Aviation.
KLM US Flights Increase
The expansion details reveal a strategic growth in service frequencies. Salt Lake City flights will double from three to six weekly, providing travelers with more flexible travel options.
Austin routes will increase from three to five weekly flights, offering business and leisure travelers enhanced connection opportunities.
Minneapolis will also experience a similar boost, with flight frequencies rising from three to five weekly. Boston routes will see a modest increase from four to five weekly flights, further solidifying KLM’s presence in the Northeast U.S. market.
KLM has also recently added new European destinations. Apart from the USA, KLM has made several changes to flights to Asia.
New European Destinations
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is introducing daily flights to Ljubljana, and Exeter, and seasonal service to Biarritz in 2025, expanding its European network through strategic route additions.
Amsterdam-Ljubljana Route
Starting March 30, 2025, KLM will launch daily flights connecting Amsterdam and Ljubljana using an Embraer 190 aircraft. Flight KL1989 departs Amsterdam Schiphol Airport at 10:15 AM, arriving in Ljubljana at 12:05 PM. The return flight KL1990 leaves Ljubljana at 12:35 PM and reaches Amsterdam at 2:25 PM. Slovenia’s capital offers diverse attractions for both business travelers and tourists, featuring varied landscapes, natural beauty, and rich cultural experiences.
Amsterdam-Exeter Route
Also commencing March 30, 2025, KLM will introduce daily flights between Amsterdam and Exeter using an Embraer 175. Flight KL1101 departs Amsterdam at 4:15 PM, landing in Exeter at 4:50 PM local time. The return flight KL1102 leaves Exeter at 5:20 PM and arrives in Amsterdam at 7:50 PM. Exeter serves as a gateway to Devon and Cornwall, located near the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast. This route restores a direct connection between Amsterdam and Exeter, previously discontinued after FlyBe’s bankruptcy in 2019.
Amsterdam-Biarritz Seasonal Service
From April 19, 2025, KLM will operate seasonal flights to Biarritz using an Embraer 190. The route will offer daily flights during peak season and twice-weekly service in the off-season. The summer schedule includes:
Peak Period (April 19 to October 25, 2025 – Saturday and Sunday):
- KL1485 departs Amsterdam at 2:20 PM, arriving in Biarritz at 4:20 PM
- KL1486 returns from Biarritz at 4:50 PM, reaching Amsterdam at 6:50 PM
Extended Summer Period (June 30 to August 22, 2025 – Monday through Friday):
- The same flight times as the peak period schedule
Biarritz, located on the Bay of Biscay in southwestern France, is renowned as Europe’s surf capital. The French Basque region offers a unique blend of beaches, forests, mountains, cities, and traditional Basque villages, making it an attractive destination for travelers.
Asia Flight Changes
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has filed strategic modifications to its East and South Asian route operations for the Northern summer 2025 season as reported by Aeroroutes.
The airline’s comprehensive network adjustments impact key routes including Bangalore, Beijing, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Mumbai, Osaka, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Denpasar, Taipei, Manila, and Tokyo Narita. These modifications reflect KLM’s adaptive approach to route planning and fleet management.
Specific route changes include reducing Beijing services from initially planned 7 weekly to 6 weekly flights, utilizing Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The Amsterdam-Hong Kong route will maintain 4 weekly services with 787-9 equipment, contrary to earlier projections of 6 weekly flights.
The Kuala Lumpur-Jakarta route will sustain 6 weekly services instead of the originally planned 7 weekly flights, continuing to operate 787-9 aircraft. Mumbai routes will see partial aircraft substitutions, with 787-10 replacing 777-200ER during specific periods from May to October 2025.
Osaka Kansai experiences a reduction from 5 to 3 weekly flights, with plans to increase to 4 weekly from August 10, 2025, using 787-9 aircraft. Seoul Incheon routes will feature complex aircraft rotations, involving 777-300ER and 777-200ER deployments.
Shanghai Pudong routes undergo significant restructuring, with gradual reductions from 7 to 6 weekly flights and strategic aircraft replacements. The Singapore-Denpasar segment will see temporary aircraft substitutions during the July to August 2025 period.
The Taipei Taoyuan-Manila route will maintain 4 weekly services using 787-9 aircraft, a modification from the initially proposed 7 weekly flights. Tokyo Narita will transition to a daily 777-200ER service, replacing the previous mix of 5 weekly 787-9 and 2 weekly 777-200ER flights.
