DUBAI— Wizz Air (W6) will return to Dubai and Abu Dhabi from October 25, 2026, restoring direct links between the United Arab Emirates and several European cities for the 2026–27 winter season.
The airline will serve Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Abu Dhabi (AUH) as part of a wider Middle East programme covering 12 routes and 49 weekly flights.
The UAE will account for eight of those routes and 32 weekly flights, with 470,000 seats available across Wizz Air’s restored Middle East network.
The programme will reconnect the UAE with markets including Hungary, Romania, Poland, Bulgaria and Cyprus, while advertised fares on selected services start from €24.99.
Wizz Air’s Dubai Flights Return
Wizz Air will rebuild its Dubai schedule around Budapest and Bucharest. Budapest-Dubai flights will operate five times weekly from October 25, while the Bucharest service will run daily, giving Dubai a combined 12 weekly flights.
The two routes provide direct access to Central and Eastern Europe without requiring passengers to connect through another European or Middle Eastern hub.
Tickets are already available through Wizz Air’s website and mobile application, with fares varying according to travel dates and availability.
Abu Dhabi Gets Six European Routes
Abu Dhabi will receive the larger share of the UAE programme, with 20 weekly flights across six European routes. Budapest and Katowice will begin operating on October 25, with Cluj, Krakow, Sofia and Larnaca joining the schedule from October 27.
The Budapest service will operate four times weekly, while Katowice will provide five weekly flights.
Krakow, Sofia and Larnaca will each operate three times weekly, and Cluj will add two weekly services, bringing the total to 20 flights per week.
The Larnaca-Abu Dhabi route will also carry the lowest advertised fare in the returning programme, starting from €24.99.
That service will operate three times weekly from October 27, restoring another direct link between the UAE and Cyprus.
Not A Base Return for Wizz
The new schedule represents a return of Wizz Air services to the UAE rather than the revival of the former Wizz Air Abu Dhabi operation.
Wizz Air ended its locally based Abu Dhabi operation on September 1, 2025, after citing operational challenges, engine reliability constraints in harsh conditions and wider geopolitical pressures.
The restored flights will instead connect the UAE with aircraft and operations based in European markets.
The distinction means Abu Dhabi regains Wizz Air connectivity, but not the locally based airline structure that previously supported a much larger network.
The timing also comes as Wizz Air continues to expand across its wider network. The airline carried 8,699,468 passengers in August 2026, up 25.9% year over year, while its load factor reached 95.6%, Arabian Business reported.
The UAE restart therefore adds capacity during a period of strong network growth.
With 32 weekly UAE flights forming almost two-thirds of Wizz Air’s 49 weekly Middle East services, Dubai and Abu Dhabi will become the largest part of the carrier’s winter restoration programme.
