DUBAI- Emirates Airlines (EK) will deploy its newly retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft on routes to Kuwait (KWI) and Dammam (DMM), expanding the availability of its enhanced Business Class and Premium Economy cabins in the Gulf region.
The airline’s retrofitting program introduces Premium Economy cabins to these routes while enhancing the Business Class experience with next-generation features.
Emirates Retrofitted 777 to Dammam & Kuwait
Kuwait will receive the upgraded aircraft on flights EK855 and EK856 starting October 27, marking its position as the second Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) destination to feature the renovated fleet.
Dammam follows as the third GCC destination, with daily flights EK823, EK824, EK821, and EK822 receiving the retrofitted aircraft from November 22. This expansion makes Dammam the second Saudi Arabian city to experience Emirates’ upgraded service.
Emirates has completed the refurbishment of six Boeing 777 aircraft since July, now operating on routes to Geneva, Zurich, Brussels, Haneda, and Riyadh. The airline introduces a four-class configuration, featuring 24 Premium Economy seats arranged in a 2-4-2 layout.
The Premium Economy cabin showcases 19.5-inch-wide cream leather seats with a 38-inch pitch, 8-inch recline capability, and 6-way adjustable headrests. The upgraded Business Class mirrors the A380’s contemporary design, offering 38 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration.
Business Class passengers access direct aisle entry, 78.6-inch flatbed recline, and 23-inch HD screens. Additional amenities include champagne-trimmed leather seats, wood paneling, mini-bars, and a dedicated refreshment area.
The Economy Class renovation accommodates 256 seats, featuring ergonomic designs in grey and blue tones.
Emirates plans to expand its upgraded service to six U.S. routes: Chicago, Boston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Seattle, Athens/Newark, and Miami/Bogota. This expansion enables seamless Premium Economy and Business Class connections for passengers traveling from Kuwait and Dammam via Dubai.
A350 Launch Delays
Emirates Airlines has rescheduled the delivery of its first Airbus A350-900 to early November, marking a second delay from the initial August timeline through October.
The Dubai-based carrier maintains a significant order of 65 A350-900 aircraft, positioning these wide-body jets as crucial components for its ultra-long-haul operations.
Emirates plans to deploy these aircraft on routes to the United States, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand, serving flights up to 15 hours from Dubai.
The airline intends to initially operate these aircraft on regional routes before expanding to longer destinations. This strategic deployment aligns with Emirates’ broader network expansion plans and fleet modernization efforts.
Emirates has demonstrated progress in its fleet enhancement program, completing retrofits on 31 aircraft since the program’s inception in 2022.
