MIAMI- On April 9, Delta (DL) Sky Club unveiled its newly expanded lounge in Miami (MIA). The Club now boasts nearly 4,000 additional square feet and over 100 extra seats, resulting in a capacity increase of over 50%, bringing the total square footage to just over 12,000.
This expansion allows the Club to accommodate approximately 300 guests.
Delta Sky Club in Miami
Claude Roussel, Vice President of Sky Clubs and Lounge Experience, emphasized the significance of Miami as a global transportation hub within the Delta network.
He stated, “The expansion and refurbishment of the MIA Club enable us to support the growth in this market and enhance the lounge experience to align with the dynamic nature of this vibrant city.”
The design of the expansion draws inspiration from Miami’s vibrant colors and sunny beaches. A new mosaic pays tribute to the city’s iconic Art Deco architecture, while the color scheme reflects the turquoise waters, blue sky, and white and gold accents commonly found in South Florida designs.
The Club expansion introduces a new service buffet and an additional beverage station to accommodate the increased number of guests.
The seating in the expansion area is designed to meet the requirements of business travelers, featuring single-seat dining tables, a communal table equipped with a charging source in the center, and power outlets available at nearly every seat. Throughout the Club, the seating has been refurbished to align with the refined aesthetic of the newly added space.
Guests of the renovated lounge can enjoy a view of the H Concourse below from the expanded area.
The expansion in Miami marks the beginning of a year of growth for Delta lounges, with two new Delta Sky Clubs set to open in Charlotte and Seattle and the highly anticipated openings of three Delta One Lounges at JFK, LAX, and BOS.
Strong Presence in Miami
Delta will provide 34 peak-day flights this summer from Miami to 12 destinations, including international service to Havana, Cuba. All flights will be operated using Delta mainline aircraft, offering premium cabin classes on all flights.
With daily service to SEA added in December, Delta’s domestic routes from Miami will encompass all nine of Delta’s domestic U.S. hubs (ATL, BOS, LGA, JFK, MSP, DTW, LAX, SLC, and SEA), as well as Raleigh, Orlando, and Washington D.C.
Delta has deep ties to the Miami and South Florida communities, serving as a corporate sponsor for youth organizations like the YMCA of South Florida, KIPP Miami, Junior Achievement chapters of Greater Miami and South Florida, and Covenant House Florida.
Collaborations with Clean Miami Beach, Miami Beach Pride, and Feeding South Florida support environmental, cultural arts/LGBTQ+ rights, and wellness initiatives in the region.
Embedded in Community
Delta is also the Official Airline of the Miami Marlins. Last year, Delta debuted at Miami Art Week, featuring the work of six Miami-based artists through immersive art projections on a chartered flight to the event and commissioning pieces from the artists for a Delta-sponsored open-air gallery.
Earlier this year, Delta, in partnership with joint venture partner LATAM Airlines Group and Junior Achievement, teamed up with New World School of the Arts to provide 25 students with a hands-on introduction to the aviation industry.
Delta and LATAM volunteers gave students a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings and operations of Miami International Airport, paving the way for future careers in aviation.
Florida is home to over 7,500 Delta employees. This year, profit-sharing payouts to state-based employees amounted to $31.5 million.
