SYDNEY- A United Airlines (UA) flight destined for San Francisco International Airport (SFO) had to return to Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport (SYD) following a reported mid-flight hydraulic leak.
Departing at 12:01 local time, Flight UA830, operated by a Boeing 777-300ER, initiated its journey towards San Francisco. However, shortly thereafter, the flight declared a mid-air emergency, necessitating a diversion back to SYD Airport.
United Emergency Landing at Sydney
The airplane safely touched down at 14:25 local time, where firefighters greeted the aircraft on the tarmac, allowing all 167 passengers to disembark without incident.
A spokesperson from United Airlines informed The Daily Mail that the diversion was a result of a “maintenance issue.”
As per information shared by certain social media users, the mid-flight emergency might have been triggered by a potential hydraulic leak.
United Airlines has arranged accommodations for the passengers and successfully rebooked them on a flight to San Francisco scheduled for March 12, 2024.
Four Incidents in A Week

The incident occurred at approximately 11:35 a.m. when United Flight 35 encountered trouble with its landing gear.
Earlier in the week, on Monday, United Flight 1118, bound for Fort Myers, Florida, had to return to Bush Intercontinental Airport after an engine fire shortly after takeoff. An investigation revealed that bubble wrap had been sucked into the engine, leading to the incident.
A United Airlines (UA) flight originating from San Francisco (SFO) was compelled to execute an emergency landing in Los Angeles (LAX) on Friday evening due to complications with the aircraft’s hydraulic system, as per airline authorities.
