GUWAHATI- JettWings Airways has emerged as the leading private operator under the UDAN RCS 5.3 scheme, solidifying its position in the industry.
Despite being a newcomer, the airline has successfully secured 12 sectors to connect key airports in the Northeast, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, prevailing over tough competition, particularly from Alliance Air (9I).
JettWings 12 UDAN Sectors
This achievement establishes JettWings Airways as the inaugural airline from the Northeast region scheduled to operate fixed-wing aircraft this year commercially.
The designated Udan RCS 5.3 routes for the airline will play a crucial role in establishing vital air connectivity, linking airports at Guwahati, Pakyong, Cooch Behar, Kushinagar, Gaya, Bareilly, Kanpur, and Agra.
Looking ahead, the airline has ambitious plans to acquire and operate 42 aircraft within the initial five years.
JettWings Airways has recently adjusted its fleet plan to align with the requirements for RCS routes. In addition to the initially proposed 88-seater Embraer fleet, the airline will now integrate Cessna Grand Caravan nine-seater aircraft.
The Cessna Grand Caravan, well-suited for short-haul regional flights, will connect smaller towns and cities, addressing accessibility challenges in remote destinations. Meanwhile, with their higher seating capacity, the Embraer E Jets will be deployed on medium-haul routes with increased passenger demand.
CEO Remarks
Sanjay Aditya Singh, CEO and MD of JettWings Airways, remarked, “The Udan RCS 5.3 will enable us to connect significant tourism and religious hotspots in the Northeast, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.”
Sanjive Narain, Chairman of JettWings Airways, expressed gratitude, stating, “We appreciate the trust and confidence that the Ministry of Civil Aviation has placed in our airline.”
Anticipating further growth, particularly given the northeast region’s significant potential and proximity to Southeast Asian countries, the airline looks forward to the government’s plan to introduce the International Udan Scheme.
According to the company’s statement, this strategic alignment positions JettWings Airways to evolve into a regional aviation hub.
