TOKYO- The first Boeing 787 aircraft with registration code JA803A, slated for operation by Air Japan (NQ), a subsidiary of ANA Holdings (ANA), is anticipated to land at Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT) in the early hours of January 26.
The plane, initially adorned in the livery of ANA, All Nippon Airways (NH), underwent a transformation to feature the new branding of “AirJapan,” both in its exterior paint scheme and cabin specifications.
Air Japan First Boeing 787 Update
The ferry flight NH9412 is scheduled to depart from Xiamen, China, at 1 a.m. local time on the 26th and is set to land in Narita at 6 a.m. local time. X user (formerly Twitter) has already shared photos captured in the vicinity.
The Air Japan configuration includes 324 seats, all in a single-class economy layout. Saffron Seat USA manufactures the seats, featuring a seat pitch of 32 inches (approximately 81 cm), matching the standard for full-service airlines operating internationally and offering a substantial recline.
Alongside the Type-A, the USB ports for charging support the latest Type-C. As there is no individual monitor, a tablet holder is provided, enabling passengers to secure their smartphones or tablets for an enhanced movie-watching experience.
JA803A was the 12th aircraft in the delivery order to ANA and was handed over in August 2012. Specifically designed for medium- and short-haul international flights, it initially accommodated 240 seats across two classes (42 business seats and 198 economy seats).
Deployment on Narita-Bangkok route
Boeing employs the “Line Number (LN)” to manage commercial aircraft production, with LN7 marking the beginning of mass-produced 787s.
ANA’s initial 787, JA801A, is LN8, the second, JA802A, is LN24, and JA803A (LN7) is the first mass-produced 787 in LN order.
The Air Japan specification 787-8 is slated to have six units by FY2025, with all ANA-operated aircraft undergoing refurbishment. The second unit, ANA’s first 787 (JA801A), is expected to be introduced in April.
The inaugural route under the Air Japan brand is set to commence service on February 9, operating on the Tokyo Narita-Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) route.
Initially, there will be six round trips per week, but starting April 30, after the introduction of the second unit, the frequency will increase to seven round trips per week (one per day).
Additionally, the second route, the Narita-Seoul (Incheon) route, is anticipated to launch with five round-trips per week from February 22.
