SEATTLE- Alaska Airlines (AS) is warmly welcoming its newest global airline partner, Porter Airlines (PD), an expanding Canadian carrier set to launch its inaugural nonstop service between Toronto and both Los Angeles and San Francisco in January.
These flights and connecting flights on Alaska across the West Coast network are now available. Mileage Plan members who purchase Porter flights on the website will also accrue a minimum of 100% of the miles flown and 100% elite-qualifying miles.
Alaska Airlines Porter Partnership
Brett Catlin, Vice President of Loyalty, Alliances, and Sales at Alaska Airlines, expressed, “Porter Airlines opens up new possibilities for our guests to travel to Canada with sophistication. We are excited to collaborate with this dynamic, expanding airline that provides an enhanced experience featuring excellent inflight service and outstanding onboard amenities.”
Porter’s latest routes will establish connections between Los Angeles and San Francisco to Canada’s largest city, with further links to destinations across Eastern Canada, including Montreal, Ottawa, and Halifax.
Porter will operate the Embraer E195-E2 aircraft on routes between California and Toronto, renowned for its quieter flying experience and enhanced fuel efficiency compared to previous-generation technology.
Embraer Connection
The E195-E2, akin to the E175 operated by Alaska’s regional carriers Horizon Air and SkyWest, accommodates 132 passengers, eliminating middle seats compared to the E175’s 76-seat configuration.
Mileage Plan members can expect a familiar experience on Porter’s flights, with similar inflight amenities such as fresh food options, onboard entertainment, and ample legroom—features they appreciate about Alaska.
For an all-inclusive economy experience, passengers can utilize PorterReserve, which includes benefits like two checked bags, dedicated airport check-in, early boarding, front-of-cabin seating with extra legroom, and premium snacks and beverages.
Kevin Jackson, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Porter Airlines, remarked, “For over 17 years, Porter has been redefining economy air travel. As our network expands across North America, this collaboration with Alaska Airlines allows travellers in the western U.S. to enjoy our elevated onboard experience when flying to Toronto and throughout Eastern Canada. Both Alaska and Porter prioritize service excellence on every flight, making this partnership a natural fit for our passengers.”
30th Global Airline Partner
Porter Airlines becomes Alaska’s 30th global partner airline, initiating daily nonstop flights between Los Angeles and Toronto from January 16, conveniently operating alongside Alaska’s gates at Terminal 6 in LAX.
The San Francisco-Toronto service will commence on January 25. Flights with Alaska connections can now be booked on Porter’s website.
The partnership between Alaska and Porter will deepen in the coming year. In 2024, both Mileage Plan and VIPorter members will earn miles in their respective loyalty programs, regardless of where they book their flights.
Additional benefits will include enhanced availability for mileage redemptions for both Mileage Plan and VIPorter members on each other’s airlines.
