AHMEDABAD- Officials reported that a SpiceJet (SG) plane en route from Ahmedabad (AMD) to Dubai (DXB) was redirected to Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport due to a medical emergency on board.
The emergency landing occurred at approximately 9:30 pm on Tuesday, and medical assistance was provided to a passenger.
SpiceJet Emergency Landing at Karachi
The Boeing 737 aircraft, designated as SpiceJet flight SG-15, was originally traveling from Ahmedabad to Dubai when a 27-year-old passenger, Dharwal Darmesh, reportedly suffered a suspected heart attack, requiring immediate medical attention, as mentioned by a spokesperson of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
The CAA’s medical team promptly administered emergency medical assistance to the passenger, who was experiencing a drop in sugar levels and palpitations.
The spokesperson further stated that after receiving medical treatment, the passenger has recovered, and the flight has been refueled. It is expected to resume its journey to Dubai.
The spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating, “On December 5, 2023, SpiceJet Boeing 737 aircraft operating flight SG-15 (Ahmedabad-Dubai) was diverted to Karachi due to a medical emergency.”

On Monday, October 9, a Kenya Airways (KQ) flight from Nairobi (NBO) bound for London Heathrow (LHR) had to change its course and reschedule its journey due to a passenger falling ill.
As per a statement released by the national carrier, flight KQ100, scheduled for Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom around 14:19 hours, encountered a medical emergency.
“The onboard crew, supported by two medical doctors and a nurse, offered medical assistance to the passenger while the captain declared a medical emergency with Air Traffic Control (ATC) to facilitate a swift landing for the passenger to receive further medical care,” stated the airline.
Kenya Airways reported that the aircraft safely landed at 14:47 hours, and ground paramedics were already in place to receive the passenger and provide immediate medical attention.
“Our top priority is the safety of our crew and passengers,” emphasized the statement.
