Additionally, three more planes are set to join 9M-MVA by the end of 2023.
Malaysia Airlines is also anticipating the arrival of additional widebody planes, with the initial Airbus A330neo expected to be in Malaysia by Q3 of the following year.
Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, Group Chairman of MAG, stated, “The incorporation of our new Boeing 737-8 will enable us to enhance customer experience, improve operational and fuel efficiency, and meet our future network growth requirements to support our vision for the national carrier.”

Redesigned Interior
The 737-8 will showcase an updated interior design, initially introduced with the 737-800 last year. In this redesigned interior, Malaysia Airlines has opted not to incorporate built-in in-flight entertainment (IFE). Instead, passengers can connect to the wireless in-flight entertainment system using their personal devices.
Maintaining the current seat configuration of 12 business class seats and 162 economy class seats, Malaysia Airlines introduces high-quality internet connectivity for its narrowbody planes with the debut of the 737-8.
The inaugural revenue flight of the Boeing 737-8, designated as MH2640, will be a journey from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, scheduled to depart at 3:40 pm today (20 November 2023).
