ABU DHABI- Etihad Airways (EY), the UAE’s national airline, celebrated the arrival of a new Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) on Friday, October 13.

Etihad Welcomes New Boeing 787-10
Etihad Airways’ Chief Executive Officer, Antonoaldo Neves, expressed the airline’s commitment to growth and enhancing the customer experience.
The arrival of the new 787 Dreamliner is part of their Vision 2030 strategy, which aligns with their recent expansion into new destinations like Osaka, Copenhagen, and Dusseldorf, launched just two weeks ago.
These aircraft, including the three additional Dreamliner 787-9s set to join the fleet soon, are designed to be up to 25% more fuel-efficient compared to many other aircraft of similar size.
This arrival coincides with the three-year anniversary of Etihad receiving its last Boeing 787-10 on October 13, 2020.
Three New Destinations
Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national airline, has fulfilled its commitment to growth and improved connectivity by commencing flights to three significant destinations.
The inaugural service to Dusseldorf, Germany (DUS) took off on September 28, followed by Copenhagen, Denmark (CPH) on the following day, and Osaka, Japan (KIX) on October 1.
Simultaneously, the airline has announced increased flight frequencies to popular destinations Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (KUL), and Colombo, Sri Lanka (CMB).
These flight additions and frequency increases are part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at meeting the growing demand from travelers who wish to visit Abu Dhabi and benefit from expanded connectivity within Etihad’s global network.
“The introduction of these new flights marks the next significant steps in expanding our network to provide greater connectivity for our passengers and meet their increasing demand for more opportunities to visit Abu Dhabi,” stated Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways.
“We are actively contributing to the economic growth of the city by offering enhanced travel options and seamless connections, making it easier for travelers to explore Abu Dhabi as a destination or during a stopover while they explore our expanding global network.”
Etihad has already announced the addition of nine new destinations in the current year, which include Malaga, Mykonos, Lisbon, Kolkata, St Petersburg, Dusseldorf, Copenhagen, Osaka, and Boston. Additionally, the airline has revealed plans for new routes to the Indian Subcontinent, specifically Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram, set to commence in January 2024.
