NORTH AMERICA- In addition to obtaining the FAR129 certificate for operations in the USA, SkyUp Airlines (PQ) has now secured the ability to operate in Canada as well.
This achievement comes in the form of the FAOC, or foreign air carrier certificate, which grants the Ukrainian airline permission to offer ACMI services and conduct charter flights from other countries to Canada.

“We deeply appreciate the trust and support extended to us by Transport Canada throughout the approval process. We are excited about the opportunity to operate in this significant market for us and to provide our experience and capabilities to meet the growing travel demand to Canadian airlines and partners,” said Dmytro Seroukhov, General Director of SkyUp Airlines.
SkyUp has obtained permits for nine aircraft from its fleet to conduct international flights to Canada. These include seven Boeing 737-800 aircraft (UR-SQQ, UR-SQG, UR-SQP, UR-SQC, UR-SQF, UR-SQB, UR-SQO) and two Boeing 737-700 aircraft (UR-SQE and UR-SQD).
As a part of the certification process, the airline also obtained a charter permit, allowing it to conduct non-scheduled flights and a CBSA carrier code issued by the Canada Border Services Agency. With this certification, SkyUp is authorized to operate charter flights and offer ACMI services within Canadian airspace.
“The accomplishment of a significant milestone in our brand’s global expansion is a momentous achievement. I take immense pride in our team for their unwavering commitment and professionalism that led to this success. Additionally, on behalf of our company, I extend heartfelt gratitude to the competent governmental bodies in the United States for their trust and for granting us the privilege to operate within the United States.”
Dmytro Seroukhov, the CEO of SkyUp Airlines
SkyUp commenced its provision of ACMI services to commercial airlines in mid-April 2022. By June 2023, as indicated in Ch-aviation’s ACMI Contract Monitor report, the airline has been recognized among the top 20 ACMI providers and providers with the most significant ACMI contracts.
As part of the certification process, it obtained the following approvals:
- DOT authorization (permitting SkyUp to operate as an air carrier within the USA).
- TSA clearance (confirming its compliance with aviation security requirements for air travel to and from the USA) and FAA endorsement (Part 129 Operations Specifications).
