UAE, MALAYSIA- In response to customer demand, Etihad Airways (EY) is increasing its flight frequency between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and the vibrant capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur (KUL).
Starting from January 15, 2024, a second daily flight will be added, providing travelers with a total of 14 flights per week connecting both cities.

Arik De, Chief Revenue Officer at Etihad Airways, stated, ‘Our second flight to Kuala Lumpur will offer convenient departure times from Abu Dhabi, catering to UAE residents looking to explore Malaysia. Additionally, the new daytime and nighttime flights from Kuala Lumpur will provide more options for travelers arriving in Abu Dhabi, enabling them to explore the city for both business and leisure. This expansion reflects our commitment to bringing more guests to experience Abu Dhabi and connecting them to our expanding global network.’
Kuala Lumpur, the dynamic capital of Malaysia, is known for its striking skyline, dominated by the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. The city boasts a rich fusion of Malay, Chinese, and Indian cultures, resulting in a diverse culinary scene, vibrant markets, and numerous cultural attractions.
Abu Dhabi continues to captivate travelers with its diverse attractions, from the Louver Abu Dhabi architectural marvel to thrilling adventures at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.
Both daily flights will be operated using state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft equipped with in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity.
425,000 Total Seats Annually
With the addition of the second daily flight, Etihad Airways will offer a total of 425,000 seats annually between Abu Dhabi and Kuala Lumpur, representing a year-on-year capacity increase of 75%. This increased frequency will also boost the annual cargo capacity, fostering more business opportunities and supporting bilateral trade growth.
This expansion provides travelers with enhanced choice and connectivity between Abu Dhabi and Southeast Asia during the winter season. Etihad Airways will operate up to 77 weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and key destinations such as Kuala Lumpur (14 weekly flights), Bangkok (14), Phuket (14), Manila (14), Jakarta (14), and Singapore (7).
This announcement follows the airline’s recent unveiling of an ambitious network overhaul, positioning it for sustainable growth, enhancing Abu Dhabi’s global connectivity, and contributing to the growth of the capital’s tourism industry.
Etihad’s winter schedule includes new destinations, increased flight frequencies, and improved departure times.
