LONDON- China Southern Airlines (CZ) Airbus A350 took off from Wuhan (WUH), the capital of Hubei Province in central China, on Friday morning, carrying 270 passengers destined for Heathrow Airport (LHR) in London.
This flight marked the revival of the direct route from Wuhan to Europe after the pandemic-induced hiatus.
China Southern Wuhan to London Flight
China Southern Airlines is responsible for operating this air service, which will operate once weekly, specifically on Fridays.
The departure from Wuhan Tianhe International Airport is scheduled for 2:15 a.m., with an expected arrival in London at 7:10 a.m. local time. The return journey departs London at 11:05 a.m. local time, landing in Wuhan at 5:00 a.m. the following day.
During the inaugural outbound flight to London, the passenger load factor reached an impressive 88 percent, while the inbound flight achieved a load factor of 90 percent. Li Shuwen, the Vice Sales Manager of China Southern Airlines’ Hubei branch, provided these statistics.
“We hold a positive outlook regarding the revenue potential of this route. As of now, more than 80 percent of the available seats for the Wuhan-London flights in September have already been reserved,” stated Li.
Additionally, he mentioned that the company intends to introduce an additional weekly flight starting in November.
Wuhan Tianhe International Airport has successfully reinstated nine air routes connecting to major international cities, including Dubai, Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore, and Bangkok.
Apart from this, China Southern also plans to restart flights to Australia’s Queensland.
Guangzhou-Brisbane Flight
Queensland’s tourism sector and economy are in for a substantial uplift with the announcement from China Southern Airlines (CZ) about the revival of direct flights connecting Guangzhou (CAN) and Brisbane (BNE), Australia.
The initial phase will encompass four weekly flights, gradually expanding to daily services. This strategic move is anticipated to infuse nearly $441 million into the visitor economy. These, over the course of three years, will create approximately 1,790 job opportunities in Queensland.
The fruitful partnership between the Palaszczuk Government and the state’s four international airports, backed by aviation funding of $200 million, has effectively secured the reinstatement of direct flights from China to Queensland.
Starting November 17, 2023, China Southern Airlines will operate four non-stop weekly flights with its Airbus A350 between Guangzhou and Brisbane. Further, with a progressive plan to transition to daily flights within a span of two years.
Over the ensuing three years, the airline is anticipated to provide almost 278,000 inbound international seats. This will lead to an economic boost of approximately $441 million for the visitor economy. Subsequently, it will contribute to nearly 1,790 job opportunities in Queensland.
