ATLANTA- Delta Air Lines (DL) employees are actively stepping forward to assist individuals impacted by the devastating wildfires wreaking havoc in Hawaii, in addition to the airline’s substantial contribution of $250,000 to the American Red Cross.
Those passengers wishing to extend their help can contribute financially through Delta’s dedicated microsite, developed in partnership with the Red Cross.
Delta Hawaii Wildfire Contribution
Simultaneously, Delta staff members stationed in Maui are tirelessly dedicating themselves to facilitating the safe boarding of evacuees onto flights, offering solace and assistance to those arriving at the airport, and furnishing fundamental sustenance and services to affected travelers.
Meanwhile, in Honolulu, Delta personnel offer solace to evacuees as they disembark in search of shelter following the calamity and offer their support to the operational efforts at Kahului Airport (OGG).
While federal, state, and local authorities are collaborating with nonprofit partners to assess the situation’s ground-level requirements, both Delta employees and customers are encouraged to withhold donations of supplies for the time being.
Given the logistical complexities involved in transportation, monetary contributions are the most effective means of delivering resources to those in need.
Airlines Response
Outlined below are some of the measures Delta is undertaking in response to the ongoing situation:
AMERICAN RED CROSS
Delta customers have the opportunity to contribute to relief efforts for the Hawaii wildfires by donating through Delta’s Customer Microsite in collaboration with the Red Cross.
The donations will be directed towards immediate relief necessities. The American Red Cross has maintained a longstanding partnership with Delta, enabling the airline, its clientele, and its staff to provide assistance to individuals in need since 1941.
WAIVER IN EFFECT
Delta has issued a travel waiver to simplify the rebooking process for passengers.
Authorities at federal, state, and local levels have requested that tourists avoid planned trips to the island, and individuals volunteering for aid efforts should refrain from traveling unless arrangements are made through approved nonprofit organizations.
DIRECT SUPPLY DELIVERIES
Although the collection of supplies is currently on hold, Delta initially dispatched shipments containing essential items such as toiletries, diapers, bottled water, food, and other goods to support immediate relief endeavors.
Presently, the emphasis has shifted towards aiding evacuations and encouraging financial donations.
EVACUATIONS
Delta is in close coordination with governmental officials and other airlines to facilitate evacuation for individuals seeking safety and refuge outside of Maui.
