CHICAGO- World’s leading low-cost carrier, Southwest (WN) Airlines flight attendant, was injured due to turbulence in a flight operated using the Boeing 737.
The incident happened on July 13, 2023, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently investigating it.
Southwest Flight Attendant injured in Turbulence
According to FAA Report on the incident, “On Thursday, July 13, around 12:45 a.m., Southwest Airlines Flight 683 made a safe landing at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport in Alabama.”
“The crew encountered turbulence at 41,000 feet during the flight from Chicago Midway International Airport,” reported FAA.
As per the preliminary report, one flight sustained a minor injury at FL410. Fortunately, other individuals, including flight attendants, flight crew, and passengers, observed no injuries.

After being airborne for almost 50 mins, the flight faced some disturbance due to unexpected turbulence. This occurred at 4:29 AM UTC when the flight was just over Nashville.
Following this, one flight attendant reported the injury. The pilot continued on the route as it was 20 mins away from its destination. The flight landed safely at around 4:56 AM UTC in Birmingham (BHM), Alabama.
The aircraft involved in the incident is a Boeing 737-700, registered as N498WN and thoroughly inspected for damage upon landing.
FAA has not updated the report as it’s a minor incident; I wish the flight attendant a speedy recovery and welcome us onboard on the WN flight.
