DUBLIN- CDB Aviation, a subsidiary of China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co Ltd, has recently announced the signing of lease agreements with Turkish Airlines (TK) for six Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
The leasing deal, a significant step in Turkish Airlines’ fleet modernization process, underscores the airline’s commitment to sustainability and passenger experience.

CDB Aviation Leases Boeing 737 MAX to Turkish Airlines
The lease agreements involve six aircraft from CDB Aviation’s existing order book with Boeing.
These aircraft will be equipped with CFM International Leap-1B engines. Further, it will be configured specifically for AnadoluJet, a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines. Subsequently, the delivery of the aircraft is scheduled for 2024 and 2025.
Jie Chen, the CEO of CDB Aviation, expressed delight in securing the lease agreements with Turkish Airlines. He emphasized Turkish Airlines’ position as a leader in sustainability initiatives, with a focus on modernizing flight and ground operations.
Chen noted that the highly efficient 737 MAX aircraft would aid Turkish Airlines in achieving their ambitious sustainability goals by reducing the environmental impact of their operations.
Levent Konukcu, Turkish Airlines’ Chief Investment and Technology Officer, highlighted the airline’s pride in partnering with CDB Aviation.
Adding the new aircraft to the AnadoluJet fleet will significantly contribute to their goals. Further, it will enable the delivery of exceptional travel experiences for passengers.

Strengthening the Partnership
The lease of these six MAX aircraft will bring the total number of CDB Aviation-leased aircraft to Turkish Airlines to nine. This includes one 737-800, one 777-300ER, and one A320neo.
The delivery of Turkish Airlines’ first A320neo in 2022 marked a significant milestone in the airline’s ongoing efforts to modernize its fleet.
