NEW YORK- In collaboration with New York-based Halmar International, construction company Skanska has entered into a joint venture (JV) deal to develop a new ground transportation connection hub at New York’s JFK International Airport.
The focus of the partnership will be the construction of roadways, utility upgrades, and the development of the innovative Ground Transportation Center.
Skanska has disclosed that its portion of the contract is valued at $868 million, while Halmar has not yet revealed its potential earnings.

New Ground Transportation Hub at JFK Airport
The project’s primary objective is to establish a state-of-the-art Ground Transportation Center that will significantly improve the overall transport experience.
The center will feature approximately 2,000 vehicle parking spaces. Further, it will prioritize electric vehicle infrastructure by incorporating charging points. Subsequently supporting the transition to sustainable electric vehicles.
Environmental consciousness and sustainability are key aspects of the project’s vision.
The design of the Ground Transportation Center integrates several eco-friendly elements. The inclusion of an “eco-conscious tinder façade” and a “rainwater harvesting facility” demonstrates the commitment to environmental responsibility.
Furthermore, the project plans incorporate provisions for a future green roof and energy-efficient provisions for solar paneling, aligning with the project’s sustainability goals.
