Mumbai – Tata-backed Indian FSC Air India (AI) Flight AI981 from Mumbai (BOM) to Doha (DOH) faces a 17-Hour delay amid technical issues with aircraft and delays in Securing Alternative aircraft.
The situation has stirred up anger and desperation among passengers, including families with children. Numerous individuals have resorted to expressing their frustration on Twitter. To seek attention from authorities to address the issue.
In an attempt to seek assistance, some have even tagged Ratan Tata, the former chairman of Tata Group. Notably, Air India (AI) had been under government control for nearly seven decades before being acquired by Tata Group in January 2022.
Air India Flight Passengers’ Tweets Amid The Delay
Air India Flight from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) [BOM] to Hamad International Airport [DOH] was scheduled to take off from Mumbai Airport (CSMIA) at 7:30 PM IST but got delayed several hours due to technical issues. Passengers took to Twitter to address their concerns regarding the ongoing delay.
“I am a respected citizen of India. I want to bring to your notice that the passenger of Air India flight AI 981, which was scheduled to depart from Mumbai Airport, is being delayed more than 24 hours really disgusting nobody is answering the passengers,” Twitter user Sarthak Panchal (@Sarthak70500295) tagged the Ministry of Civil Aviation in their post.
Tagging Ratan Tata and Air India on Twitter, Riyan Chougle (@riyanchougle) wrote, “There was a flight AI-981 from Doha to Mumbai on 11th June at 23:55 (after delayed).
But when we reached the airport at 7 pm, we were informed of a delay of 1 hour. Now no information is provided as the flight has not yet taken off from Mumbai (sic).”
The apparent absence of information from Air India staff seemed to have worsened the situation. Numerous passengers expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of service despite the significant delay.
Sarthak Panchal (@Sarthak70500295), a Twitter user, tagged Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Union Minister for Civil Aviation, seeking assistance and highlighting the particular hardships faced by the elderly and children in this situation.
In the meantime, Air India has not issued an official statement regarding the ongoing situation.
