MANILA- On Friday, June 9, 2023, from 12:51 PM to 1:28 PM local time, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), specifically Terminal 3 located in Pasay City-Manila, encountered a power outage.
Further, this incident resulted in lengthy queues at the immigration counter. The passengers at the airport have shared videos and images on social media showing the extreme chaos at the airport.
Ninoy Airport Power Outage
According to the source, this is Ninoy International Airport’s second time it has faced a Power outage. Earlier on May 1, 2023, An unexplained power outage at the Philippines’ largest international airport led to the cancellation of numerous flights.
According to a statement from the airport, Manila Airport’s Terminal 3 experienced a power cut. Further, approximately 40 domestic Cebu Pacific flights were canceled on May 1.
According to a statement posted on Facebook by Ninoy Aquino International Airport, flight delays are expected as a result of the power outage. The statement did not provide further details about the cause of the power failure.
However, the statement mentioned that the airline and immigration computers were partially functional and able to process passengers. Manila Electric Company, the airport’s operator, is investigating the cause of the power outage. Which affected the travel plans of many Filipinos returning home after the Labor Day weekend.
In a separate statement, Cebu Pacific offered affected passengers the option to rebook their flights or receive a refund. Which can be placed in a travel fund for future use.
