The first flight from Bhubaneswar to Dubai was inaugurated on Monday at the Biju Patnaik International Airport by Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik.
Aswini Kumar Patra and Tukuni Sahu, state ministers, welcomed the 174 passengers who were on the first direct flight from Dubai to Bhubaneswar as it arrived at 4 p.m.

IndiGo Airlines will operate the flight services thrice weekly, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The plane would take off from Dubai at 11.25 am and land in Bhubaneswar at 5.20 pm. According to the official, it would leave the capital city of Odisha at 6.30 p.m. and arrive in Dubai at 9.45 p.m. on the return trip.
On Monday, the Bhubaneswar to Dubai flight had 170 passengers in total. Before the flight took off at six o’clock in the evening, each received a “Uttariya” (traditional stole), candy, and flowers.
Speaking on occasion, Patnaik claimed that partnering with a major tourist destination like Dubai would help Odisha expand industrially by facilitating investments, promoting travel, and strengthening ties with the Odia diaspora.
Along with passengers who had purchased tickets after Utkal Dibasa on April 1, several athletes and representatives from Mission Shakti. Further, World Skill Centre, Special Development Council, and Panchayati Raj, who had received awards at Naveen Nivas, the chief minister’s residence, boarded the flight to Dubai earlier in the day.
