According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) monthly report
In a related development, the aviation watchdog DGCA reported last week that more than 97 lakh domestic passengers flew in July, a 7.6% decrease from the 1.05 crore passengers who flew in June. In total, 6.69 crore people took domestic flights between January and July of 2022.
IndiGo, the largest airline in the nation, carried 57.11 lakh passengers in July, accounting for 58.8% of the domestic market, according to the report. The rainy season is typically a slow time for the Indian aviation industry.
According to information provided by the DGCA, Vistara carried 10.13 lakh passengers and Air India carried 8.14 lakh passengers in July of this year. According to the data, Go First, SpiceJet, AirAsia India, and Alliance Air transported 7.95 lakh, 7.76 lakh, 4.42 lakh, and 1.12 lakh passengers in July, respectively.
Air India occupancy
The DGCA reported that SpiceJet’s occupancy rate, also known as load factor, was 84.7% in July. In July, the occupancy rates for Vistara, IndiGo, Go First, AirAsia India, and Air India were, respectively, 84.3%, 77.7%, 76.5%, 75.2%, and 71.1%. Due to travel restrictions put in place in India and other nations because of the Covid-19 pandemic over the past two years, the aviation industry has suffered significantly.
According to DGCA data, AirAsia India had the best on-time performance in July of this year, with a 95.5% success rate at four major airports: Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. According to the DGCA, Vistara and Go First performed on-time at 89% and 84.1%, respectively, in July at these four airports, placing them second and third, respectively.
