DELHI- IndiGo (6E) diverted a Doha to Bengaluru flight 6E1302Â to Muscat, Oman, after an operating crew member required urgent medical attention. The crew member received medical assistance after the aircraft landed at Muscat International Airport (MCT).
IndiGo arranged an alternate aircraft and a new crew to continue the flight to Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (BLR). The airline also provided refreshments and updates to passengers while they waited in Muscat.
IndiGo Doha-Bengaluru Flight Diverted to Muscat
An IndiGo flight 6E 1302Â operating from Hamad International Airport, Doha (DOH), to Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (BLR), was diverted to Muscat on Thursday after a crew member required urgent medical attention.
The Airbus A321neo aircraft landed safely at Muscat International Airport (MCT), where a medical team attended to the crew member. IndiGo said the decision was taken to address the medical requirement and maintain the safety of the operating crew and passengers.
The airline subsequently arranged an alternate aircraft and a new set of crew members to continue the journey to Bengaluru.
IndiGo apologised for the disruption and said it was taking steps to reduce the impact on passengers. These measures included providing refreshments and regular updates while passengers waited for the replacement aircraft.
The airline reiterated that the safety of its customers, crew and aircraft remained its top priority.
Alternate Aircraft Arranged for Bengaluru Journey
The diversion meant passengers could not continue their journey on the original aircraft immediately after landing in Muscat.
IndiGo arranged a replacement aircraft and fresh operating crew to transport passengers onward to Bengaluru. The arrangement allowed the airline to continue the scheduled journey while addressing the medical situation involving the original crew member.
The airline did not indicate that the diversion was caused by an aircraft technical problem. The stated reason for the diversion was the crew member’s need for urgent medical attention.
IndiGo Faced Another Flight Disruption in Goa
The Muscat diversion came one day after another IndiGo flight experienced an emergency situation in Goa.
IndiGo flight 6E 2102, operating from Manohar International Airport, Goa (GOX), to Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi (DEL), made an emergency landing at Goa on Tuesday after the pilot reported a suspected engine failure shortly after takeoff.
The flight departed Goa at 9:16 a.m. with 229 people on board and landed safely at 9:50 a.m. A full emergency was declared at the airport at 9:25 a.m. after the pilot alerted air traffic control and requested an emergency landing.
No passenger or crew injuries were reported following the incident.
DGCA to Inspect Aircraft After Suspected Engine Failure
The aircraft involved in the Goa-Delhi incident was placed under maintenance checks following the emergency landing.
IndiGo said its standard operating procedures were followed after the technical issue was detected. The pilots turned the aircraft back toward Goa after informing the relevant authorities and landed safely.
A team from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) was expected to inspect the aircraft in Goa as part of the regulatory process.
IndiGo said the aircraft would resume operations after obtaining the required clearances.
Passengers Given Alternative Travel Arrangements
Passengers affected by the Goa-Delhi incident remained at the airport terminal while alternative arrangements were being made to take them to Delhi.
The airline said it worked to minimise the inconvenience caused by the disruption, including providing refreshments and timely updates. The response reflects the standard operational priority of safely managing passengers after an aircraft returns to its departure airport because of a technical issue.
The two incidents involved different circumstances. The Doha-Bengaluru flight was diverted because a crew member needed medical attention, while the Goa-Delhi flight returned to Goa after a suspected engine failure.
