Ambani and Adani Group
After rivalry in a couple of sectors, including green energy, the Ambani and Adani are now in the race for civilian-use drones. Officials of these groups participating in the Drone Festival in Delhi last week spoke about expanding on the civil side now; both groups have a significant presence on the defense side drones.
Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022 was held on 27th and 28th May. Over 1600 delegates, including government officials, foreign diplomats, armed forces, central armed police forces, PSUs, private companies, drone startups, etc., participated in the Mahotsav.
More than 70 exhibitors displayed various use cases of drones at the exhibition.”We will be developing in all spheres like original equipment manufacturer (OEM), services, and analytics using cloud-based platforms.
India’s biggest uncrewed aerial vehicles
We aim to be the largest OEM in India. We have one manufacturing hub in Bengaluru and will soon have maintenance hubs across India,” Nihar Vartak, co-founder and director of Asteria Aerospace, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries’ Jio Platforms. During the event, Asteria Aerospace signed an MoU with India’s largest uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAV) pilot training company — Drone Destination — to meet its requirement of licensed drone operators.

“We are encouraging startups in the sector. We will soon start manufacturing a logistics drone capable of carrying a payload of up to 120kg and then come up with drones for other payloads.
Adani Defence Systems and Technologies
The groups are looking at agriculture drones and want to be the market leader.” Adani Defence and Aerospace headland systems Ashok Wadhawan told reporters. Adani Defence Systems and Technologies (ADSTL) is going to acquire a 50% stake in Bengaluru-based commercial drone player General Aeronautics to provide “end-to-end keys to the domestic agriculture sector”. Adani-Elbit Advanced Systems India is one of the 14 beneficiaries under the government’s product-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for manufacturing drone and drone components. Adani-Elbit Advanced Systems India is a JV of Adani Group and an Israeli company.
“When we entered the defense UAV side in 2018, we brought the largest Hermes 900 multi-role, medium altitude long endurance (MALE) drone (that is made by Israeli partner Elbit Systems).
