On May 26, 2022, British low-cost carrier easyJet was forced to cancel between 200 and 400 flights across Europe due to an IT system malfunction.
"Unfortunately, we are currently experiencing IT system issues," easyJet said in a statement. "This means that flights scheduled to depart between 13:00 and 15:00 UK time today may be impacted." "Our team of IT experts is trying to get the systems back up and running as soon as possible."
Flights resumed later that evening, however there were still delays on May 27. The nature of the hiccup was not revealed.
As a result of workforce shortages across the aviation industry, the United Kingdom has already seen significant flight cancellations and delays.
To mitigate the impact of the shortages, easyJet has announced that six seats will be removed from numerous Airbus A319 aircraft, leaving the aircraft with a 150-seat capacity and allowing the aircraft to operate with fewer cabin staff members.
