Emirates, a Dubai-based airline, has announced a global mass recruitment tour that will visit 30 locations around the world in order to increase its cabin crew numbers.
Emirates says it is ramping up its cabin crew recruitment drive as air travel returns “with a fury.”
Recruiters from Emirates will fly from Australia to the United Kingdom, stopping in dozens of European towns along the way.
The tour will also stop in Cairo, Algiers, Tunis, and Bahrain.
The airline has already begun visiting Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth in Australia to meet potential cabin crew workers.
The UAE-based carrier’s recruitment campaign comes as the aviation industry grapples with global workforce shortages, attempting to recruit workers who fled the industry during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“There is no more exciting airline for anyone interested in a flying career than Emirates, and we’ve had incredible interest since we began our cabin crew recruitment drive in November,”
stated Emirates vice president for human resources Abdulaziz Al Ali in a statement on May 17, 2022.
"While some aspects of the application process are completed online, we always make an effort to see potential applicants in person whenever possible, which is why our Talent Acquisition team is embarking on a whirlwind 30-city trip to assess prospective candidates over the next six weeks."
Since its first post-pandemic recruitment campaign in August 2021, Emirates reported receiving more than 300,000 applications for cabin crew jobs in April 2022.
According to Emirates’ website, interested candidates must meet UAE employment visa criteria and will be based in Dubai, the airline’s main hub.
Candidates must also have “at least a high school diploma” and “more than a year of experience in hospitality or customer service.”
An Emirates economy class cabin crew member’s average wage is currently around AED 9,770 ($2,660).
