On Wednesday, Venkataramani Sumantran was named chairman of the InterGlobe Aviation Board of Directors, the parent company of India’s largest airline, IndiGo.

Sumantran succeeds Meleveetil Damodaran, who resigned on Tuesday after reaching the age of 75, according to an IndiGo statement.
Sumantran is a corporate executive, technocrat, and scholar with a 37-year career spanning the United States, Europe, and Asia, according to the statement.
He is the Chairman and Managing Director of Celeris Technologies, a strategic advisory firm specialising in automotive, mobility, digital transformation, and technology, according to the company.
According to the report, he also sits on the boards of Rane Holdings Limited and TVS Electronics Limited.
He was the Executive Vice-Chairman of Hinduja Automotive (UK) and Vice Chairman of Ashok Leyland Limited until 2014, according to the report.

According to the figures, IndiGo, India’s largest airline, carried 58.61 lakh passengers in March, accounting for 54.8 percent of the domestic market.
