Over Rs 2,430 crore has been collected from air passengers as a fee for security services provided by the CISF in the last two years, said Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
According to the minister, payment for services rendered by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at airports is made from the Aviation Security Fee (ASF) collected on air travel tickets and deposited in the National Aviation Security Fee Trust (NASFT).
From April 2020 to December 2021, a total of Rs 2430.48 crore was collected as ASF, of which Rs 1885.74 crore was disbursed, he said in a written response to a question.
According to Rai, the CISF currently provides security coverage at 65 airports with a sanctioned strength of 30,996.
