The Russian Aerospace Forces’ Sukhoi Su-35 Flanker-E fighter plane was shot down near Izium, in eastern Ukraine, around 120 kilometres southeast of Kharkiv, according to Ukrainian media.
According to Anton Gerashchenko, a Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs advisor, the Russian military plane was shot down on April 3, 2022, after it was hit by a Ukrainian Armed Forces missile.
The fighter quickly caught fire and collapsed.
On social media, Anton Gerashchenko posted a photo of the downed jet and stated that the pilot ejected from the plane but was later captured.
“Today near Izyum, a Su-35 was shot down,” Gerashchenko stated.
“The damage [to Russians] is worth $50 million.”
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 143 Russian planes and 134 helicopters were shot down during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation.
