Aer Lingus has suspended a pilot after a seating dispute involving non-union crew on a Barbados–Manchester flight, sparking union protests and deepening tensions with management.
An Aer Lingus (EI) Airbus A330-300, operating as flight EIN107 from Dublin Airport (DUB) to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), was instructed to call Air Traffic Control after a taxiway misstep.
Aer Lingus’ entry-level cabin crew is paid a basic salary starting at €29,883 per year (approx. US$32,310) and gets additional allowances.
Aer Lingus also pays its first officers a flat rate of €85 per hour (US$93) for each unit over and above the 620 flying hours mark each year.
Aer Lingus (EI) revives plans to introduce the Airbus A321XLR after reaching a new labor deal with its pilots in July.
