Aer Lingus (EI) has launched a collective consultation process that could result in closing its long-haul base at Manchester Airport (MAN), putting more than 200 jobs at risk.
Aer Lingus Pilots Strike
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has paused progress on authorizing single-pilot operations for large commercial aircraft such as those operated by Lufthansa (LH) and Air France (AF), citing unresolved safety and technological issues.
Aer Lingus also pays its first officers a flat rate of €85 per hour (US$93) for each unit over and above the 620 flying hours mark each year.
Ryanair (FR) CEO Michael O’Leary has accused Aer Lingus (EI) pilots of “industrial blackmail” following their vote for strike action.
