DALLAS- A Southwest Airlines (WN) passenger says a flight attendant quit after a verbal argument with fellow cabin crew before Flight 557 from Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL) to Kansas City International Airport (MCI) on Friday, November 6.
Passengers were then told a flight attendant was sick, before the pilot offered a different explanation: “personality differences.” The Boeing 737-700 landed 2 hours and 21 minutes late.

Southwest Passenger Reports Cabin Crew Argument
The passenger began complaining while the aircraft was still on the ground in Dallas. By 4:39 PM, she had identified the flight number and airport and said passengers had been waiting two hours.
View from the Wing reported a screenshot of her account, shared on Reddit. It includes the line “ONE QUIT ONE ASKED TO LEAVE!” According to her, one flight attendant quit and another was asked to leave.
She says the argument took place in front of passengers, followed by an announcement that the flight attendants were sick. She then says the pilot told passengers:
“NOT SURE WHY THEY SAID THAT BUT WE HAD PERSONALITY DIFFERENCES”
The pilot’s comment differed from the earlier announcement about sickness. The details of the argument and the pilot’s remark come from the passenger’s account.
The passenger acknowledges that the aircraft had a maintenance issue. She says it was resolved about ten minutes after boarding. She attributes the extended wait to the crew dispute rather than the maintenance work. Her account does not state how much time each issue added to the delay.

The same aircraft continued from Kansas City to Nashville International Airport and then to McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville that evening. It landed in Knoxville at 10:47 PM Eastern, 2 hours and 12 minutes late. That was nine minutes less than the delay on arrival in Kansas City.

Why a Crew Dispute Can Hold Up Departure
Losing a required flight attendant means the airline must find a replacement before the aircraft can leave. Sending crew members who cannot work together to handle an emergency would also have been problematic.
Replacing crew members may be necessary after a dispute. In this case, the passenger says the argument took place in front of customers, and the explanation passengers first received was later contradicted by the pilot.

Similar Incident
The Southwest incident follows a similar case involving United Airlines in October 2025.
On Monday, October 27, 2025, a United Airlines flight from Des Moines to Chicago was delayed after a dispute between 2 flight attendants.
Airport management deplaned all passengers from the Airbus A320 and removed the entire flight crew, so United replaced the whole team rather than only the two flight attendants involved.
Des Moines is not a United crew base, so replacement crew members had to be sourced. Flight 2138 was scheduled to leave at 11:26 AM and departed at 3:24 PM.
It landed at Chicago O’Hare International Airport at 5:09 PM, 4 hours and 12 minutes late, according to FlightAware.
