A new 2026 data study has identified the best airports in the United States of America (USA) for coffee lovers, ranking major hubs based on the quality and availability of cafés.
The analysis, which reviewed more than 470 coffee outlets across 50 airports, found that average coffee quality remains low overall, with fewer than half of airports achieving a 3.0 rating or higher.

Top Airports for Coffee in the US
The study ranks William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) as the top-performing airport, with an average coffee rating of 4.03. Despite offering only five qualifying cafés, the airport stands out for consistently high-quality options.
Kahului Airport (OGG) follows closely with a 4.00 rating, showing that even a small selection of cafés can deliver strong customer satisfaction. The airport features just two coffee outlets but maintains high review scores.
Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) ranks third with a 3.83 rating, combining solid quality with better accessibility, including more cafés per passenger than peers.

Balanced Performers
Miami International Airport (MIA) secures fourth place with an average rating of 3.56 while offering the widest selection among the top five airports. With 12 qualifying coffee shops, it balances variety and quality effectively.
Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) completes the top five with a 3.53 rating. The airport performs strongly in both customer satisfaction and café density, ranking among the best for coffee availability per passenger.
These airports demonstrate that both quality and accessibility play a critical role in shaping passenger experience, particularly during early departures and long layovers.

Study Insights 2026
Across all 50 airports studied, the average coffee rating stands at just 2.94 out of 5, highlighting a widespread gap in quality. Only 23 airports achieved a rating above 3.0, while just five crossed the 3.5 threshold.
Notably, only two airports in the entire dataset managed to reach or exceed a 4-star average, reinforcing how rare high-quality coffee remains in airport environments.
Texas emerged as a strong regional performer, with multiple airports—including Houston Hobby—ranking among the top 10 for coffee quality. This suggests a broader trend of improved food and beverage standards across select U.S. hubs.
