KUALA LUMPUR- Authorities are investigating two separate fatal incidents involving foreign nationals that occurred on May 1, 2026, at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Malaysian police confirmed that both cases took place within hours of each other but show no direct connection and are being treated as sudden deaths under active investigation.
The incidents involved a 27-year-old Chinese woman and a 30-year-old Algerian man, both of whom fell from elevated areas at KLIA Terminal 2. Emergency response teams from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and nearby medical facilities attempted life-saving measures, but both individuals were later pronounced dead at separate hospitals.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid speculation while official inquiries continue.

Death of Chinese National
Police reported that the first incident occurred at 2:20pm involving a 27-year-old Chinese woman. She was seen sitting at a balcony area in the Green Zone on Level 3, where witnesses observed her crying and behaving erratically.
Security personnel at Kuala Lumpur International Airport attempted to approach and assist her, but she resisted intervention. She then jumped into the loading bay area at KLIA Terminal 2, prompting an immediate emergency response.
Medical teams provided urgent treatment before transferring her to Putrajaya Hospital. Despite efforts to revive her, doctors pronounced her dead at 5:09pm the same day. Investigations also revealed she was scheduled to fly back to China on May 2.

The Case of the Algerian National
The second incident occurred later in the evening at around 9:10pm on May 1. It involved a 30-year-old Algerian man at KLIA Terminal 2.
Witnesses reported that the man opened his backpack and suddenly ran towards a barrier on Level 3. He then climbed over it and jumped from the outer balcony area.
Emergency responders transported him to Cyberjaya Hospital for treatment. However, medical officials confirmed his death at 2:55am on May 2 after unsuccessful resuscitation efforts, Straits Times flagged.

Police Investigation at KLIA
KLIA police confirmed that both incidents are classified as sudden deaths and are under ongoing investigation. Authorities have stated that the cases appear unrelated despite occurring on the same day at the same terminal.
Officials have also urged the public and media to refrain from spreading unverified claims to prevent misinformation.
Further findings will be released after post-mortem reports and full investigative procedures are completed.
