MANILA- Philippine Airlines (PR) has introduced a new nonstop route connecting Manila (MNL) and Chicago (ORD), expanding its footprint in the United States and strengthening trans-Pacific connectivity.
The service will operate between Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) and O’Hare International Airport (ORD), providing direct access between Southeast Asia and the US Midwest while enhancing passenger and cargo movement.

Philippine Airlines Strengthens US Expansion
Philippine Airlines will launch nonstop Manila–Chicago flights starting November 9, marking its eighth destination across the United States and its territories.
The airline’s US network includes Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Guam, and Saipan, reinforcing its position as the Southeast Asian carrier with the most extensive connectivity to the US.
According to the Journal, the Chicago route enhances access to the US Midwest while strengthening links between international travelers and Philippine domestic markets through Manila’s hub.
Richard Nuttall stated that Chicago is a major aviation hub in the United States and that the new route will improve connectivity to the Midwest while linking passengers to key regional and domestic destinations via Manila.
The service will operate 3 times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Flights will depart Manila in the afternoon and arrive in Chicago on the same day in the afternoon local time. Return flights will depart Chicago in the evening and arrive in Manila early morning.
The route will be operated using the Airbus A350-900, offering a full-service experience with onboard dining, generous baggage allowance, and well-designed cabin comfort across all travel classes.
The aircraft also supports enhanced cargo capacity, improving shipment connectivity between Southeast Asia and the US Midwest.
The Manila–Chicago route improves cargo logistics by enabling efficient transport of goods into the U.S. Midwest and integration into the airline’s broader cargo network.
This strengthens trade flows and supports business demand across both regions.

Expansion Across US and Pacific Markets
The Chicago launch aligns with broader expansion across North America. Flights between Manila and Los Angeles will increase from 14 to 18 weekly services starting June 1, 2026.
Seattle services currently operate five times weekly and will increase to six weekly flights during June and July.
The airline also operates daily flights to San Francisco and three weekly services to New York. Honolulu is served with five weekly flights, while Guam receives daily service. Saipan and Palau are served twice weekly, ensuring strong connectivity across both mainland US and Pacific destinations.

Industry Recognition and Market Position
Philippine Airlines has been recognized by Cirium as one of the most on-time airlines in Southeast Asia, reflecting its operational reliability and service consistency.
To support the route launch, introductory round-trip Economy fares start at USD 667 for bookings made between April 16 and May 31, 2026, targeting early demand and route awareness.

Strategic Importance of Chicago Hub
Michael McMurray from the Chicago Department of Aviation highlighted that Chicago remains one of the busiest and best-connected aviation hubs in the United States.
The new Manila service strengthens international connectivity, supports tourism growth, and enhances economic and cultural ties between the regions.
