CHICAGO- United Airlines (UA) has opened ticket sales for its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner featuring the new Elevated interior, marking a major upgrade in long-haul travel. The first international flight will operate from San Francisco (SFO) to Singapore (SIN) starting April 22.
The aircraft will also serve San Francisco (SFO)-London Heathrow (LHR) starting April 30, with select domestic routes, such as San Francisco (SFO)-Houston (IAH), used for initial deployment ahead of global operations.

United Begins 787 New Suites Booking
United Airlines has introduced its most premium-configured aircraft to date with the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The Elevated interior focuses heavily on high-yield cabins, offering 99 premium seats, the highest proportion among U.S. carriers.
A key highlight is the debut of United Polaris Studio suites. These eight front-row business-class seats are 25 percent larger than standard Polaris seats and include privacy doors, direct aisle access, and an additional ottoman for companions.
Each suite features a 27-inch 4K OLED screen, currently the largest offered by any U.S. airline, along with Bluetooth connectivity and wireless charging.
Passengers in Polaris Studio also receive upgraded dining, including exclusive entrée selections and an Ossetra caviar amuse-bouche service. Enhanced amenity kits feature Perricone MD skincare products, alongside Saks Fifth Avenue bedding and new noise-canceling headphones.

Cabin Configuration and Onboard Upgrades
The aircraft is configured to deliver consistent upgrades across all cabins, not limited to premium passengers.
Polaris Business Class Enhancements
The aircraft includes 56 standard United Polaris seats, all fully lie-flat with aisle access. Seat layouts allow travelers to choose between window-facing seats for privacy or center seats for shared travel. Each seat is equipped with a 19-inch 4K OLED touchscreen and Bluetooth capability.
A redesigned snack bar and upgraded soft product offering further enhance the long-haul experience.

Premium Economy Improvements
United Premium Plus includes 35 seats with increased recline, additional legroom, and new privacy dividers. Each seat offers a 16-inch 4K OLED screen, wireless charging, and upgraded dining service.
Economy and Economy Plus Upgrades
Economy Plus and Economy cabins, totaling 123 seats, now feature 13-inch 4K OLED screens at every seat with Bluetooth connectivity. Power access has been improved with six outlets per row, ensuring better device usability throughout the flight.

Route Launch and Fleet Expansion Plans
United will launch the aircraft’s first commercial service on April 22 with flight UA1 from San Francisco to Singapore. A second route to London Heathrow will commence on April 30, operated by flight UA901.
Before international deployment, the aircraft will operate on select domestic routes, including San Francisco-Houston, to align crews and systems with operational requirements.
The airline plans to expand its fleet of 787-9s configured with the Elevated cabin to at least 30 aircraft by the end of 2027, reinforcing its long-haul premium strategy.

Strategic Shift Toward Premium Travel
This aircraft reflects United’s broader push toward premium international travel. By increasing the share of high-revenue seats and enhancing onboard products, the airline aims to compete more aggressively in the long-haul segment.
The introduction of Polaris Studio suites signals a shift toward a more differentiated business class offering, aligning with evolving passenger expectations for privacy, space, and personalized service.
