ISTANBUL- Turkish Airlines (TK) has unveiled its 500th aircraft, marking a major fleet milestone and signaling the start of its next growth phase.
The launch ceremony at Istanbul Airport (IST) celebrated the airline’s workforce and highlighted its long-term plan to double the fleet by 2036.

Turkish Airlines Marks New Fleet Era
Turkish Airlines introduced its 500th aircraft, named “TK Family,” during a ceremony at Istanbul Airport, bringing together executives, employees, retirees, and aviation partners. The aircraft features a special livery created from photographs of more than 100,000 employees and retirees, symbolizing collective contribution to the airline’s growth.
The event also hosted families of national martyrs from all 81 provinces of Türkiye and featured participants from the airline’s well-known Iğdır commercial campaign. The ceremony emphasized unity and the airline’s shared journey rather than focusing only on operational numbers.
Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee, Prof. Ahmet Bolat, stated that the airline has accelerated growth significantly since 2003, expanding from 65 aircraft to more than 500 today while serving 356 destinations across six continents, Ajot reported.
He noted that the fleet milestone marks the beginning of what the airline calls the “Second 500” era, aiming to reach a fleet of 1,000 aircraft by 2036 and strengthen Türkiye’s position as a global aviation hub.
A ceremonial flight operated as TK500 traced the number 500 in the sky, carrying employees, former executives, and families of martyrs, symbolizing the official start of this next expansion phase.

Fleet Expansion Supports Long-Term Strategy
