SHANGHAI- China Eastern Airlines (MU) has rolled out its 2025 winter-spring schedule, launching on 26 October 2025 with some of the most extensive service plans the carrier has ever fielded.
The new timetable assigns 820 aircraft to fly to 253 domestic and international destinations across 39 countries, including 88 overseas cities. It will operate about 3,130 flights per day, with roughly 3,220 international and regional flights each week.

China Eastern World’s Longest Flight
China Eastern’s winter-spring network will cover 253 destinations, of which 88 are international. It will fly daily across 820 aircraft and support approximately 3,220 weekly international/regional flights.
This schedule aligns with the Southern Hemisphere’s midsummer, targeting travel demand to Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. To satisfy diversified passenger needs, China Eastern is opening routes, increasing frequencies, and reinforcing its global connectivity strategy.
Notable additions include the new route from:
- Beijing (PEK) to Muscat (MCT)
- The ambitious two-leg route between Shanghai (PVG) – Auckland (AKL) – Buenos Aires (EZE).
The Shanghai-Auckland-Buenos Aires service, launching 4 December, will cover around 20,000 km and become the longest scheduled commercial flight in the world, linking both hemispheres and nearly antipodal cities.
Three of the current longest one-stop flights are the following:
| Rank | Route | Distance | Operator | Aircraft Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Singapore (SIN) – Houston (IAH) via Manchester (MAN) | 10,013 miles / 18,544 km | Singapore Airlines (SQ) | Airbus A350-900 |
| 2 | Nouméa (NOU) – Paris (CDG) via Bangkok (BKK) | 9,514 miles / 15,311 km | Aircalin (SB) | Airbus A330neo |
| 3 | Beijing (PEK) – São Paulo (GRU) via Madrid (MAD) | 9,494 miles / 15,279 km | Air China (CA) | Boeing 787-9 |

Air Express Network Growth
China Eastern has introduced new long-haul services and boosted its “Air Express” network in a bid to offer faster, more frequent links from major hubs.
China Eastern’s “Air Express” arm now spans 49 routes, offering an average of 899 daily flights and connecting key hubs such as Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou.
On its busiest trunk—between Beijing and Shanghai—the carrier will operate 66 round-trip flights per day, effectively offering departures every hour and a half.
Fleet-wise, China Eastern has deployed 11 of the domestically produced COMAC C919 aircraft on 12 routes across 10 cities via 11 airports, reinforcing its commitment to modernizing its operations with indigenous jets.

Strategic Implications and Outlook
By targeting sunbelt markets in Australia and New Zealand and increasing frequencies from regional hubs, China Eastern is positioning itself to capture a rebound in winter-sun travel while reinforcing its global hub strategy.
At the same time, growing its Air Express network enhances its intra-China and regional transit offering, which supports inbound tourism and strengthens connections to China’s winter-snow destinations such as Harbin, Changchun, and Changbai Mountain.
The launch of the world’s longest route places China Eastern at the forefront of network innovation, providing a potential competitive edge in a recovering but increasingly dynamic aviation market.

Bottom Line
China Eastern Airlines this winter-spring season deploys 820 aircraft across 253 destinations, including 88 overseas points.
It’s launching a 20,000 km Shanghai–Auckland–Buenos Aires route—the longest scheduled commercial flight in the world—while significantly expanding its Air Express network to 49 routes and nearly 900 daily flights.
The carrier’s bold scheduling and network expansion reflect its strategic bet on global connectivity and long-haul growth.
