FORT WORTH— American Airlines (AA) will debut a special Flagship livery on a Boeing 777-300 (N735AT) in November, marking a major milestone ahead of the airline’s centennial celebration next year.
The refreshed aircraft, named Flagship DFW, will feature a heritage-inspired exterior and an upgraded cabin with the new Flagship Suite® seats, Premium Economy, and enhanced Main Cabin features.

American Airlines 777 Centennial Livery
With six months until its official 100th anniversary, American Airlines is reintroducing an iconic design rooted in its history.
The Flagship livery combines the airline’s original Silver Eagle® color with the distinctive orange lightning bolt motif that first appeared nearly 90 years ago on the Douglas DC-3.
The retro-inspired design is more than aesthetic nostalgia—it connects American’s pioneering past with its global presence today.
The livery celebrates the journey from its early DC-3 routes to the airline’s extensive international network, flying to destinations across Australia, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
Named Flagship DFW in homage to its Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) hub, the aircraft also carries a historic roundel featuring the eagle connecting the world, symbolizing American’s legacy and reach to over 350 destinations.

Inside the New Flagship Experience
The Boeing 777-300 will feature a completely redesigned interior that aligns with American’s next-generation onboard experience. The aircraft will include:
- 70 Flagship Suite® seats with privacy doors, chaise lounge seating, and wireless charging.
- 44 Premium Economy seats featuring new headrest wings, improved calf and footrests, and wireless charging — the first among U.S. carriers in this cabin.
- Upgraded Main Cabin offering 4K QLED screens (a U.S. first), along with USB-C and AC power at every seat.
The upgrades extend American’s premium Flagship® offering across its long-haul fleet, complementing its award-winning Flagship Lounges and Business Class service.
The Flagship Suite® product first launched on the Boeing 787-9 earlier this year and will be rolled out across the refreshed 777-300 fleet in 2025.

A Look Back, and Ahead
The centennial celebration is not only taking flight but also extending to the ground. American’s Brand Store now features exclusive heritage merchandise, including vintage posters, retro logos, and limited-edition centennial items.
The airline plans to expand its collection throughout the 100th year, giving aviation enthusiasts and travelers alike a chance to commemorate the milestone.
American’s approach to this livery stands apart from other carriers’ centennial designs, such as Delta’s Airbus A350 or Lufthansa’s Boeing 787, which took subtler approaches. By embracing its historic motifs, American delivers a clear, nostalgic tribute that feels both authentic and forward-looking.

Celebrating Legacy Through Design
American Airlines has long excelled at honoring its past through visual storytelling. Its fleet already includes several 737s painted in retro liveries representing its predecessor airlines, such as Reno Air and America West.
This new Flagship Boeing 777-300 reinforces that tradition, bridging history and innovation as the carrier enters its second century of flight.
