LONDON- British Airways (BA) has unveiled its refreshed global lounge design, debuting the new look at Miami International Airport (MIA). The redesign signals the airline’s next phase in upgrading its ground experience across key hubs.
Following the Miami opening, the carrier confirmed that London Heathrow (LHR) — its largest base — will undergo a major lounge transformation beginning in 2026. Reported by OMAAT, the project forms part of British Airways’ global lounge redevelopment program announced earlier this year.

A Fresh Era for British Airways Lounges
The Miami (MIA) lounge launch offers a preview of what travelers can expect as British Airways (BA) rolls out its updated global lounge design.
The concept emphasizes modern interiors, improved functionality, and a more consistent oneworld experience across the network.
At London Heathrow (LHR), the airline plans “transformational changes” across Terminal 3 and Terminal 5 lounges.
This will include the Concorde Room for first-class passengers, the Galleries First Lounge for oneworld Emerald members, and the three Galleries Club Lounges catering to business class travelers and oneworld Sapphire members.
The Arrivals Lounge and Terminal 3 facilities are also slated for renovation.

Transformational Upgrades at the Hub
Renovating eight lounges across two terminals is a significant logistical challenge. The project will likely require phased closures, potentially reducing capacity during construction. However, this disruption is necessary to deliver long-term improvements to the customer experience.
British Airways was originally set to begin these renovations in 2020, but plans were paused due to the pandemic.
The delay has allowed the airline to incorporate its new design concept, which debuted in Miami, into the upcoming London Heathrow (LHR) overhaul. The result should be a more cohesive look and feel across the airline’s global lounges.

What Could Change Inside Heathrow’s Lounges
Industry speculation suggests the redesign could involve more than updated furnishings. There may be a reallocation of space among lounges, or even expansion or consolidation of existing areas.
The Concorde Room, in particular, could see upgrades aimed at bringing it closer in standard to first-class experiences offered by Air France, Lufthansa, and SWISS.
Such improvements would position British Airways more competitively within the premium travel market, especially given the growing focus on high-end ground services among leading global carriers.

The Road Ahead
Full details of the Heathrow (LHR) redevelopment are expected later in 2025, with construction beginning in 2026.
For now, the airline’s Miami (MIA) lounge provides a tangible example of what’s to come — a modern, functional, and distinctly British design identity.
With eight lounges set for renewal and thousands of passengers passing through daily, the project is both ambitious and necessary.
Travelers can expect temporary inconveniences, but the end result promises a refreshed and more efficient lounge network for British Airways’ global travelers.
