NEW DELHI- Air India (AI), the largest carrier between India and the United Kingdom, has announced a major enhancement to its UK schedule with a fourth daily flight between Delhi (DEL) and London Heathrow (LHR) effective 26 October 2025, coinciding with the start of the Northern Winter 2025 schedule.
The expansion increases the airline’s weekly frequency from 24 to 28 flights, adding 1,196 seats each way per week and further strengthening Air India’s position as the preferred carrier on the busy India–UK corridor.

Air India Strengthens UK Network
Air India currently operates 61 weekly flights between India and the United Kingdom, deploying over 18,000 weekly seats (one way) and approximately 1.7 million seats annually.
With this expansion, Air India reinforces its lead as the largest India–UK operator, ahead of competitors such as British Airways and Virgin Atlantic.
The airline’s India–UK network connects five Indian cities, Delhi (DEL), Mumbai (BOM), Bengaluru (BLR), Ahmedabad (AMD), and Amritsar (ATQ), with three UK destinations: London Heathrow (LHR), London Gatwick (LGW), and Birmingham (BHX).
“Expanding our connectivity to the United Kingdom underscores Air India’s commitment to offering seamless, world-class travel between the two nations,” said Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director, Air India.
“The additional Delhi–London frequency will provide greater flexibility, improved connectivity, and more capacity for both business and leisure travelers.”

Enhanced Experience
All four daily Delhi–London (LHR) flights will be operated by Air India’s flagship Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
Each aircraft features three cabin classes: Business, Premium Economy, and Economy, with ergonomically designed seating, upgraded in-flight entertainment systems, and enhanced onboard amenities.

This combination ensures consistent comfort, reliability, and premium service quality across all flights, catering to growing travel demand between India and the UK.

Strategic Route Optimization Across the UK
In line with Air India’s fleet modernisation and network realignment strategy, the Winter 2025 schedule also includes optimised operations on other UK routes:
- Mumbai–London (Heathrow): Maintains 14x weekly (double daily).
- Bengaluru–London (Heathrow): Reinstated to 7x weekly from 3x curtailed frequency.
- Ahmedabad–London (Gatwick): Returns to 3x weekly after temporary relocation to Heathrow in mid-2025.
- Amritsar–London (Gatwick): Restored to 3x weekly.
- Delhi–Birmingham (BHX): Operates 3x weekly.
- Amritsar–Birmingham (BHX): Continues 3x weekly.
These adjustments reflect Air India’s strategic response to strong transcontinental demand, aligning capacity with market recovery and optimizing its widebody fleet utilization under the Vihaan.AI transformation plan.

Future Outlook
Air India’s fleet renewal continues with the induction of Airbus A350s, Boeing 777-9s, and 787-9s, marking the airline’s shift towards fuel-efficient and passenger-focused operations.
The A350-900 deployment on the Delhi–London (LHR) route symbolizes this new era, offering lower emissions, reduced noise, and superior comfort.
By expanding UK frequencies and upgrading aircraft, Air India aims to capture a larger share of the premium and connecting travel market while reinforcing India’s aviation connectivity on the global stage.
