DELHI- An unexpected and shocking video has emerged on social media showing IndiGo Airlines (6E) passenger serving tea to fellow passengers mid-flight.
According to the video, the man serving the tea goes by the Indian Chai Wala and has over 40,000 followers on Instagram.
IndiGo Passenger Serves Tea
The person shot this video mid-flight and is doing it without any opposition from the cabin crew. However, the exact details of the flight route are unknown.

The video is also going viral on Reddit page, where users are questioning how he is allowed to carry tea with him onboard the flight. Further why he is not stopped by the IndiGo cabin crew and pilots?
One user wrote, “How easy is it to poison fellow passengers and take the entire flight into a compromise? Indigo management and airport security need to be called out.”
Further, one user said, “It seems like all the people there are traveling together maybe as a group. But whatsoever this act is not acceptable on a flight and neither should have that flask allowed past the security kiosk while boarding.”
Another user wrote, “They didn’t allow me to carry an unopened small Bisleri bottle. And this guy carried a tea flask inside.”
Similarly one questioned, “How the hell did they get that through security? They confiscated my half-filled 250ml bottle and allowed this? Was it empty and they filled it with the tea from the plane water?”
One more user said, “Based on the insta name, a cheap tactic for marketing by creating a nuisance on the plane. Pretty sure the cabin crew were fed up and just left them alone. Why can’t people act normal ffs.”
Another wrote that “Cabin crew is supposed to bring in the captain’s cognizance if they feel fed up, instead of letting people do what not.”
While one said, “That’s why IndiGo is rated as the worst airline globally.“
One user questioned whether this occurred while the plane was on flight or on the ground and wrote, “Only way I see this happening is if the flight was grounded due to bad weather or some other issue and they let this guy do this. No way the crew will allow this while the plane is in the air. Still not sure how he made it though.”
My Take
Well, I think this is a direct violation of in-flight safety and it affects many fellow passengers.
There is a possibility that this incident occurred while the plane was on the ground due to some delays but still, it’s unacceptable.
Also, there is the possibility that IndiGo allowed them to serve the tea and shoot the video for marketing but it’s still not allowed.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) should look into this and ask IndiGo for an explanation.
- Why do they allow this?
- Why the cabin crew and Pilots did not stop such an act?
- Also, How do they carry tea onboard the flight?
Further, I think they should file a complaint against offenders and should levy heavy fines. Otherwise, some other so-called social media influencers will do more stupid acts just for the sake of some views and followers.
I personally request DGCA to look into the matter and should question both airline and airport security staff.
