NEW YORK- In a significant development for transatlantic travel, JetBlue Airways (B6) appears to be laying the groundwork for a new route connecting Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Edinburgh Airport (EDI).
The airline has secured a second daily slot at Edinburgh starting May 2025, suggesting a potential expansion of its UK services, according to reports from Ishrion Aviation.
JetBlue Boston to Edinburgh Flight
According to the ACL Slot coordinator, JetBlue will double its flights to Edinburgh in the summer of 2025.
This potential expansion builds upon JetBlue’s existing success in the Edinburgh market.
The airline recently launched its inaugural Scotland service, operating daily flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Edinburgh (EDI).
The current service, which commenced on May 22, 2024, operates on a summer-seasonal basis through September 30, 2024.
The addition of a Boston-Edinburgh route would mark JetBlue’s continued strategic expansion in the European market. As the UK’s second most popular tourist destination, Edinburgh represents a valuable market for the airline.
JetBlue’s potential Boston-Edinburgh route aligns with its broader European growth strategy. The airline had secured 840 slots at Lisbon Airport (LIS) for Summer 2024, enabling two daily flights each way during the March 31 to October 26 season.
