BOSTON- New York-based JetBlue Airways (B6) will launch two transatlantic routes from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) in the summer of 2025, marking a significant expansion of its European network.
The airline will introduce daily seasonal nonstop services to Madrid (MAD), Spain, and Edinburgh (EDI), Scotland, beginning May 22, 2025.
JetBlue Boston to Madrid, Edinburg Flights
The new Boston-Madrid route represents JetBlue’s debut in the Spanish market, extending the carrier’s European footprint.
This daily seasonal service will connect Boston Logan International Airport with Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, providing New England travelers direct access to one of Europe’s most vibrant destinations.
Simultaneously, JetBlue will initiate daily seasonal flights between Boston and Edinburgh Airport. The new route complements the airline’s existing summer seasonal service between New York’s JFK Airport and Edinburgh, offering enhanced travel options to Scotland’s historic capital.
Daniel Shurz, JetBlue’s head of revenue, network, and enterprise planning, emphasized the strategic importance of these routes. “Madrid and Edinburgh represent two of Europe’s most exciting and popular destinations,” Shurz stated. The expansion reflects JetBlue’s commitment to providing affordable, customer-focused transatlantic travel options.
Since entering the European market three years ago, JetBlue has rapidly established itself as a preferred carrier for transatlantic leisure travel. The new routes underscore the airline’s network strategy, focusing on connecting travelers to top leisure destinations with competitive pricing and signature service.
Both routes are now available for booking, offering travelers unprecedented access to Madrid and Edinburgh from the New England region. The expansion demonstrates JetBlue’s continued growth and commitment to providing innovative, affordable international travel options.
JetBlue is advancing its JetForward strategic initiative by introducing new transatlantic routes from Boston, targeting sustained profitability and enhancing its East Coast leisure network.
Five European Routes
The new routes will complement JetBlue’s existing transatlantic seasonal services from Boston, which currently include flights to Amsterdam (AMS), Dublin (DUB), and London-Gatwick (LGW), alongside year-round connections to London-Heathrow (LHR) and Paris (CDG).
From New York, JetBlue maintains seasonal services to Dublin and Edinburgh, with year-round operations to Amsterdam, London Heathrow, and Paris. The airline has extended Dublin and Edinburgh routes to the end of October, responding to route popularity and customer demand.
“Since launching London flights in 2021, we’ve carefully adjusted our European service to maximize value for customers and the business,” Shurz stated. The strategy involves aligning schedules with peak seasonal demand and optimizing aircraft utilization across different destinations.
The new routes position Boston and New York as critical gateways for European travel, while simultaneously providing connections to JetBlue’s extensive network across the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
