LONDON- Wizz Air (W9) announces the introduction of its first Airbus A321XLR (Extra Long Range) aircraft to Wizz Air UK’s fleet at London Gatwick (LGW).
The aircraft will commence operations in March 2025, inaugurating a direct route from London Gatwick to Jeddah (JED), Saudi Arabia.
Wizz Air London to Jeddah Flight
This new aircraft model enables Wizz Air to offer direct flights to distant destinations at lower fares, expanding its intercontinental reach. The London Gatwick to Jeddah route, lasting nearly 7 hours, marks the beginning of Wizz Air’s long-haul expansion strategy using the A321XLR.
Wizz Air plans to base another A321XLR in Italy, operating daily flights between Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Abu Dhabi (AUH) from June 2, 2025. This move further extends the airline’s network into the Middle East.
The A321XLR’s advanced technology significantly reduces carbon emissions, with an estimated 30% lower carbon intensity compared to other carriers on similar routes. This aligns with Wizz Air’s commitment to more sustainable air travel operations.
